» NZ Body Art Showcase 2011 Published 10/21/2011

The NZ Body Art Showcase event is a spectacular showcase of the film and television industry, celebrating the talents and creative excellence of our New Zealand artists and graduates of this exciting and diverse art form.
The 2011 Showcase, themed 'Aotearoa', was on 1 October at the AOTEA Centre, The Edge, in Auckland.
Congratulations to Melina Pruden for winning the TopMark Special Effects Creatures Category. Melina describes her work - "My design is a reptile looking creature that is inspired by the NZ native reptile, the gecko. I am taking the inspiration from its fascinating colours, skin texture and the scale pattern on the body of the gecko."
"I wanted to create something simple yet effective with the use of prosthetics. Including a bald cap and scale 'skin like' appliances glued to certain areas of the face and body, to create texture to the skin and a more realistic appearance. I have combined this with an attached tail to my model, painted up to match the design on the body."

TopMark supplied a range of materials for the making of this NZ movie, and we were pleased to support this local venture. We also supplied some prosthetics made inhouse by Allister Whyte, which were very realistic and well received. So watch out for severed body parts !!! The prosthetics were made from Platsil Gel 10 prosthetic silicone, which was coloured and then degraded to produce realistic effects. see the trailer here http://vimeo.com/30524238

| The 27th New Zealand Secondary Schools Underwater Hockey Championships will be held at the Rotorua Aquatic Centre from 20th to 23 August 2011. TopMark Products are pleased to support NZSS UH Championships with a TopMark Trophy for the Best Presented Team. The winning team is awarded a cup, and each player and coach receives a mini set of sticks as a souvenir! We are also involved with Snorkel Battle Extreme in their endeavour to develop the best Underwater Hockey Sticks !! There are school leagues and adult competitions, and also a developing Masters movement (for over 30 year olds). So no matter what age you are, there's a group for you to join! It's a healthy, fun way to get fit, as with the continual use of flippers and all the duck diving and breath holding involved, your heart pumps furiously throughout the game. If you become skilled at the game, there is the opportunity to represent your club, region or even New Zealand at competitions. But whatever your level, Underwater Hockey is a great way to have fun, get fit, make friends, and do something different. So give it a go!
