Flocking
This is a very fine, coloured loose particle material. It is an ideal material to simulate veins on foam latex, on/in flexible urethanes or most other translucent materials.
Can be used as a SpecialFX material to give texture to surfaces to replicate skin, scales, fur, fluff and other creature characteristics. Also good when making creature eyeballs, to show raised veins and tissue.
We have coated decorative ornaments with coloured flocking to give an amazing and very tactile result.
Firstly we coated the sculpture with clear adhesive, and while still wet puffed the dry coloured Flocking onto the surface. Different effects can be achieved by only coating with the adhesive in small areas, one at a time, and using different coloured Flocking on each area. Allow to dry before coating next area. Make sure the coated sculpture is thoroughly dry before handling.
Even Jewellery pieces can be turned into stunning new age items by giving that velvet touch.
