Addition Cured - Silicones

Pinkysil

New RTV silicone that is approved 'Skin safe'.

Fast setting, with 6 min worktime, and 15 minutes for demolding, Pinkysil can be used for body casting, as well as copying any small detailed item. Picks up finest detail from fingerprints to sculpture marks. Soft, 18A hardness, suitable for delicate parts as it is able to flex away from the cast surface.

Pinkysil has proven to be a favourite for those artists working on miniature sculptures i.e model houses, cars, planes etc.  The silicone is measured in equal parts before mixing and pouring. Some small molds have been made with less than 50gm of Pinkysil.

Ideas for leftovers !!!

This little skull mold was made from our Medallions skull with 50gm of Pinkysil silicone.  This mold is often used for those 'leftover' drops of resin, when a larger casting has been done. Each cast is only about 5-10gm and we are creating a collection of coloured skulls. These skulls are coloured EasyCast, and have been used in jewellery pieces, greeting cards and to decorate household items such as picture frames, containers and desk ornaments. CloneFx

CloneFX is an addition curing RTV-2 silicone rubber primarily developed for life casting applications. This is a firmer silicone than Pinkysil, and when used for bodycasting, users should apply a  generous vaseline coating over delicate parts of the body, particularly eyebrows and eyelashes, to aid in demolding the CloneFX when cured.

It is safe to use directly on the skin. CloneFX has an easy to use mix ratio of 1:1 and is coloured to ensure thorough mixing of the components. CloneFX will provide a mold that can reproduce the item many times over, unlike alginates that can only be used once.

TYPICAL PRODUCT USES

Banana-Skin

Banana-Skin is a two-component silicone that cures at room temperature by a polyaddition reaction that may be accelerated by heating. It is designed as a 13 Shore A high tear strength rubber providing excellent physical properties for glove & skin molding applications. Banana-Skin is great for molds with very large undercuts. Banana-Skin has high elongation and a coloured catalyst for easy mixing. Molded parts can be produced without seams. Banana-Skin offers an extremely low mixed viscosity to enable the  material to be poured into narrow openings.

New version now available, Yellow in colour.

Ideal for -

  • Skin Molds
  • Glove Molding
  • Molds requiring a very soft silicone
  • Molding parts with large undercuts.

Silpression

SILPRESSION is a two-component, addition curing, kneadable impression putty designed for taking dental impressions. It is ideally suited to the manufacture of body moulds for the life casting industry. It is also the product of choice for fast impression molds where time factors are an issue.

Silpression can also be used for fast molds of small items such as jewellery pieces.  We also used the Silpression to make some texture stamps to help with adding texture to our clay sculptures.

Wacker M4642

General purpose grade. Moderately hard, 37A,high extensibility & excellent mechanical strength. This is a much more runny silicone in its liquid state compared with other Wacker silicones. Can be mixed and processed much more easily. M4642 has a moderately firm hardness showing good definition particularly with high level of detail in the cast pieces.

If processed according to directions, will be classed as 'food grade safe'  and can be used for molds for chocolates, sweets, icing etc.

Wacker M4644

High resistance to polyurethanes & epoxy resin. Moderately hard, 40A, high mechanical strength. Preferred prototyping silicone. Once degassed to ensure clarity, items can be embedded and can be seen.  Ensures casting material can be visible when pouring, to eliminate entrapped airpockets.
