Rigid Urethanes
Rigid Unfilled Urethanes
These rigid casting systems range in hardness from 65 Shore D to 85 Shore D and have been designed to meet a wide variety of applications. These are all rigid materials when set, however other characteristics vary and should be considered when selecting a product to meet your requirements.
Technical details to examine include :
- how brittle is it
- how far will it bend before breaking
- how much strength is required to break it
- is it UV stable for outdoors use
- what is the heat threshold
Most commonly they are used to cast models & miniatures, objects of art, industrial prototypes, toys, architectural shapes, ornaments, picture frames and more. These systems provide various demold times which can range from 5 minutes to overnight.
EasyCast®, Supercast® Procast®
Most popular and economic range of rigid urethanes. Most popular is EasyCast, which is mixed by equal volume, can be processed easily, and with its short demold time, parts can be produced quickly. Supplied as two part honey coloured liquid urethane that sets White when cured.
EasyCast is a two-component rigid urethane casting compound. It cures to Shore 65D and is white in colour. EasyCast is a rapid setting Material that demonstrates slightly more flexibility than other similar materials. This material can be solid cast, or slushcast. EasyCast is machinable, can be sanded, drilled, turned and ground. EasyCast accepts a wide range of fillers and can reproduce the most minute detail as a result of its extremely low viscosity. This system is easily pigmented and fast turnover of parts can be achieved.

To get this effect a small quantity of Easycast was
mixed with the PSTF and brushed over the surface
of the mold. The rest of the Easycast was used to
fill the mold.
Cow figurine slushcast in EasyCast.
The "slushcasting" or rotational casting is a technique where smaller amounts of the liquid resin are poured into the closed mold. The mold is then rotated, so the resin can coat the surfaces inside the mold. The Cow figurine was slushcast several times, concentrating on different parts of the mold. this way all surfaces were coated leaving a hollow figurine.
Supercast and Procast are mixed in equal quantities by Weight. These Urethanes have slightly different characteristics, but both are rigid & fast setting, curing to a honey yellow colour.

4PU
Want more working time with your urethane, but still have fast demold??
4PU is a low viscosity, rapid setting, 100% solids rigid urethane compound. This system is easy to process and has a low exotherm of 76șC maximum. 4PU will cure quickly to a hard, tough casting, white in colour. Can be pigmented and will accept metal powders and fillers. 4PU is generally insensitive to moisture during and after curing and is suitable for use with most general purpose dry fillers.

Rotothane
Ideal for thin walled castings, gives slightly thicker wall in one coat.
Two-component rigid urethane casting compound that cures at room temperature and features:
• Excellent Flow • General Shore 65D Hardness range
• Rapid setting • Good rotational casting properties
• Compatible with a wide range of fillers
• Excellent detail reproduction because of its low viscosity
Typical Applications
Rotothane is commonly used for hollow rotational cast parts including model kits, collectibles and movie props. It is also suitable for pattern and foundry tooling, architectural models, mirror and picture frames, masters and prototypes and most other decorative components.
Size: 475gm, 950gm
Trowel-On 60
Thixotropic Rigid Polyurethane
TROWEL-ON 60 is a two component brush-on polyurethane that is capable of vertical hand lay-ups. It is a great substitute for creating non-fibreglass case molds / mother molds.
TROWEL-ON 60 can also be used for creating thin walled, lightweight and hollow shell parts. It can be used as a filleting material and is ideal for coating polystyrene foam. TROWEL-ON 60 has an easy 1:1 mix ratio and can be demolded in 1-2 hours. Finished parts are extremely hard and durable.
Typical Applications:
- Architectural elements
- Case molds / mother molds
- Thin walled parts and panels
- Theatrical and SpecialFX components
- Casting lightweight parts
- Polystyrene foam coating system
Size: 500gm, 1kg

Rigid Filled Urethanes
TC1630 Ultracast urethane
We currently stock only one Rigid Filled Urethane, called Ultracast or TC1630. This product is generally used for making molds and foundry patterns, however, it is often used to make parts as well. It is thicker in viscosity than unfilled systems, so needs to be processed quickly, preferably with drill mixer, to ensure even dispersement prior to pouring into prepared container. Used in the Special Effects industry for making accurate and durable molds for casting Gelatine. Grey in colour.
Size: only available in 9.07kg (1 gal) kits.
