Pottery Clay - Abbots Red

This is a water-based pottery clay which can be sculpted and fired to produce ceramic pieces.

Abbots Red is suitable as a sculpting clay, for taking molds from.  Less expensive than the Oil Based clays, can be a useful sculpting medium, however Abbots Red will dry out at room temperature, may eventually crumble and should therefore be completed quickly to maintain stability of design.  These characteristics make it disposable. Can be useful for blocking up walls and bases for items prior to taking silicone or plaster molds.  May need to be sealed if surface too wet, to prevent difficulties with moldmaking materials. See details of our Vinyl Strippable Spray which can be applied to the clay surface as a barrier coat to seal in any moisture from the clay sculpt or walls.
