Alginate Materials

Alginate is the only really safe material for taking impressions from the human body. It is flexible, very fast setting, will not adhere to anything and used in conjunction with Ultracal 30 plaster, or Hydrocal White Plaster, offers excellent reproduction plaster castings.

Accu-Cast Alginate

Highly recommended for making body casts. The Accu-Cast brand is an exciting range of high quality alginates for the New Zealand Market. The Accu-Cast range includes three different grades, which offer the versatility of varying viscosities and set times on each grade. Most popular is the Imperial Body Gel (IBG) giving a jellylike result with more flexibility, and 5 min worktime at 32° C temperature, with slightly longer working times at lower temperatures.

Full body casts, torso, hands, baby's hands and feet, all can be cast with Accu-cast alginate, and copied in plaster, with a variety of finishes.

Aroma - Pink

Aroma-Pink Alginate has a  3 min working time, suitable for hand and face casts. Quick processing enables larger areas to be completed. If the Aroma has been applied as a film, while the set Aroma is still on the skin, it should be backed up with Plaster Bandages which will then provide a rigid case. If the Aroma has been used in a container, no further case is required. Ultracal 30 plaster poured into Aroma will give excellent reproductions and the finest detail.

Size: 1kg bags

Cromax Dental Alginate

The Cromax Dental alginate has a 2minute working time. The colour changes during processing to indicate the stage of the process, so you will see when it is ready to remove. Suitable for small children's and babies' hands + feet. Casting with Ultracal 30 or White Hydrocal plasters will give a good strong cast with excellent detail.

Size: 453g bags.

Alginate Bonder

Alginate will not adhere to itself once it has set up. Using alginate bonder between coats of alginate will allow the alginate to stick together. Great for those small areas where there just wasn't enough build-up. Also useful when doing face casts. A quick impression layer of alginate can be applied to the face, and when gelled, coated with a layer of Bonder.  This will then allow a further thicker layer of alginatge to be added to the face to ensure the cast is thick enough to handle. Will still require a plaster bandage case, to ensure details are retained when casting with plaster.

Size: 8oz, 16oz.
